BASE SportsFest
[Building Achievement through Sports and Entertainment]

2004: Nation Media Group donated Ksh 150,000 to JA Kenya to organise a
fun filled, exciting, experiential and educational 2004 JA BASE
SportsFest – on 18 September 2004. Nation has further committed
to provide the required publicity as in-kind contribution to JA.
JA BASE (Building
Achievement through Sports & Entertainment) is an innovative mentoring
program designed to teach high school students the business side of the
sports and entertainment industries, work ethics and career choice.
Students interact with professionals during a one-day event, the BASE
SportsFest. During the BASE SportsFest, through career clinics and a
variety of experiential/fun activities, mentors/volunteers help students
learn about the career possibilities in the back stages and front
offices of the entertainment and sports industries.
Objectives of the 2004 JA BASE SportsFest

Reach at least
1,000 students from 25 secondary schools in Nairobi

Provide a linkage
between these students and the sports and media industry
