BARCLAYS/JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT
2004
JA Job Shadow Program
1 March 2004:
Barclays Bank of Kenya announced a donation of Ksh 300,000 to sponsor
the 2004 JA Job Shadow Program, to run in March, June and September.
The March 1-5 Job
Shadow week was launched by on March 1, 2004 at the Grand Regency Hotel
by Mr. Sam Ambundo, Chairman, Barclays Bank of Kenya and Mr. William
Lay, Chairman, JA Kenya. The launch was attended by 120 students from 20
schools in Nairobi, accompanied by their teachers, and representatives
from JA and Barclays Bank.
JA recognizes that
its unique strength is the mentoring relationship between experienced
businessmen and women with young people. We bring committed role models
and impressionable young minds together to craft the future generation
of Kenyan business and community leaders.
The JA Job Shadow
experience brings home the relevance of schoolwork and provides students
with hands-on experience of the dream jobs. During the Job Shadow Week,
we attach students with business people for a whole day to have an
up-close look at a real job and understand how the skills they learn in
school are used in the work place. In the past events, more than 2,000
students have participated in this challenging and rewarding
experience. This year we aim to reach 1,500 students in Nairobi and
Mombasa.
Our
theme for 2004 is: “banking on
our future – the youth”
Aims of JA Job
Shadow:
-
Promote
experiential student learning

-

JA thanks Barclays Bank of Kenya for its support towards its programs,

“Everything is possible if only we keep
